Stars Shine at 2022 CT Babe Ruth State Tournaments

All six of our teams competed in the CT Babe Ruth State Tournaments this past weekend.  8U Red and 12U Red brought home banners while 10U Red battled through a tough field to second place.

8U Red ran through the field and toughed out a tight final game against Brookfield winning on an 0-2 walkoff hit by Olivia Arnone.

12U Red was looking good until a 3-2 loss to Danbury knocked them to the losers bracket.  They regrouped heading in to the final rounds beating Danbury in back to back games - including a stellar outing by Olivia Manewal - to claim the title.

10U Red caught a tough opponent in their first game falling to Brookfield 6-7.  They battled back through the lower bracket, winning on a walkoff suicide squeeze bunt from Sofia Evanko against Norwalk.  They busted out the bats against Brookfield on the second day winning 13-4 before falling to juggernaut New Milford 3-8 in the final.

Congratulations to all the Stars who competed this weekend.  Go get em in Regionals.

Heart of The Babe

Congratulations to Kate Pelletier for being awarded the Babe Ruth “Heart of the Babe” award for the U10 Red team.
This award is presented to a player that never gives up. The Babe is quoted as saying “It’s hard to beat a person that never gives up.”

Kate is the living example of how to play the game of softball. Her coach has changed her nickname from “KP” to “AB”. A.B. stands for ALL BUSINESS. Kate never has a moment where she is not ready to react to any situation either in the field or on the bases. Her coach says often times he will tell her teammates to watch Kate during practice. Players that are on the bench are told watch Kate between pitches.

She is always doing what she is supposed to do and always with a smile. She plays hard and loves to play. She is a great teammate and is always the person that will fight until the final out no matter what the score.

12U Wolves Den Classic Champions

Congratulations to the 12U Red team who won the Trumbull Wolves Den Classic Tournament. Down 2-1 in the championship game, the girls scored 4 runs in the bottom of 6th, capped with a game-ending, 3-run walk-off Home Run by Shea Sullivan.

Great job by the girls! Good luck to them this coming weekend in the State tournament! Go Stars!
